Gili Nanggu the stunning island in Lombok with its circular stretch of white sand, is not the only island in the area, Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Ail make up this chain of islands to the southwest of the capital Mataram in Lombok, East Nusa Tenggara. These islands are closer to the mainland which vastly reduces the traveling time to Mataram and the Airport. There are three islands that are closer to Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport in Praya, Central Lombok. Namely, Gili Nanggu, Sudak and Kedis.
Sekotong Beach in Lombok Bara is the starting point for boating and can be reached within 1.5 hours from the airport. There are rows of boats ready and waiting to take you across to the the beach located in Tawun Village. Here, you can also find shops renting snorkelling equipment and buy bread to attract the fish while diving.
You don’t need a boat to enjoy the beauty of the underwater panorama of this island, In the clear water of the beaches the fish can be seen. Even without any snorkeling, equipment and armed only with bread crumbs, colourful fish will come to you. The notable Blue starfish can also be found here.
